Flickr username:

Instructions

This application allows you to edit latitude, longitude and bearing geotags of photos stored in a Flickr photoset. The positions are read from the geo:lat= and geo:lon= tags in the database.

To start, type in a Flickr username (such as 'Simon Chorley') and click Search. This will verify the name and if valid will forward you to the Flickr login page where you must login and authorise MyLaboratory GeoTagger to have write access to photo meta data. When this is done you will be forwarded back and a list of the users sets will be visible. Select a set from the list and the photos will automatically be loaded.

The page is split into two parts. The left shows information about the photo and set. The top box shows the current photo and the next and previous three in the set. Clicking on the others moves to that photo. Below that is a larger preview of the current photo, followed by the latitude and longitude of the mouse cursor. The editable boxes below that show the latitude and longitude of the current photo, allow an Ordinance Survey of Great Britain reference to be entered and a bearing showing the direction the photo was taken. These boxes can have numbers entered via the keyboard and hitting enter updtates the photo marker. The final line in the box has a status field and three buttons. The Save button writes the geotags back to the Flickr database and removes the old ones. Revert sets the latitude and longitude back to the values they were when the data was initially loaded. The inital data is kept for the whole session and isn't changed when the tags are re-saved so you can always revert back. Finally the Place button allows you to click on the map to place the marker.

Below this pane is are the description, date taken, tags and number of comments of the current photo, followed by the title, description and number of photos in the set.

The right side of the window shows a map with markers on representing the place each photo was taken. The map uses Google Maps so the map navigation interface is the same. Clicking on a marker changes the current photo and updates the information display. Dragging a marker allows the position to be changed graphically and when a photo's position is changed via the edit boxes on the left the map pans to the new position. As the data is initially loaded, the map pans and zooms to fit in all the points.

Keyboard shortcuts for the buttons are 's' for save, 'r' for revert, 'p' for place and 'c' to center the map on the current photograph.
